Who are we? 

The Great Shofar is owned and run by Aaron and Michal Shaffier of Tekoa, Israel.  The Shaffiers moved from California to Israel in the summer of 2007 together with their 5 (now 6) children.  

Aaron works as a Torah scribe writing and repairing Torah scrolls as well as Mezuzahs and Tefillin.  He checks all of the Mezuzah scrolls that we sell to make sure that they are 100% kosher.  Aaron also does all of the photography and web design for the site. 

Michal coordinates all of the packing and shipping of our orders.  She also handles most of the customer service.  

What does our name mean?

The prophet Isaiah says that a great shofar will be sounded to signal the arrival of the final redemption.  We think that it is a sign that the redemption is near when Jewish people can return to the Land of Israel and make a living by selling special products from the Holy Land to people all over the world.
